A nucelotide is the fundamental unit – or building block – of DNA. There are three components that need to come together to form a nucleotide:

  1. Phosphate Group
  2. Nitrogen Base (adenine, guanine, cytosine, thymine)
  3. 5-carbon sugar (deoxyribose, ribose)
